Ontario Provincial Nominee Program

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) is the province’s economic immigration program. Foreign workers, international students, and people with the education and skills required by the Ontario economy can apply to the OINO for a nomination. 

If you have a Master’s or PhD degree from an Ontario University, you can apply in the following streams:

Master’s Graduate Stream
To apply under this stream you should have at least one academic full-time study and the University must be listed under the list of eligible Ontario universities; lived in Ontario at least for one year in the past two years before you apply; and, proof of settlement funds to support yourself and your dependent family members. This stream does not require a job offer in hand.

PhD Graduate Stream
The PhD Graduate Stream is for graduates who have an Ontario PhD degree. To apply under this stream graduates should have completed their PhD degree in the Ontario province. And the universities must be listed under the list of eligible universities by Ontario. You also must have lived in Ontario for at least one year in the past two years. This stream does not require a job offer in hand. 

Human Capital Priorities Stream
Under this stream, you can decide under which categories you want to be assessed against in the Express Entry: Federal Skilled Workers Program or Canadian Experience Class. If it is FSW, you should have at least one year of continuous paid full-time experience in Skill Type O, A, or B. And If it is CEC, you should have at least one year of cumulative paid full-time work experience in Canada in Skill Type O, A, or B. Also, you should have a Canadian Bachelor’s, or Master’s, or PhD degree or its equivalency in another country. 

Skilled Trades Stream
This stream is for foreign nationals with work experience in Ontario in eligible skilled trades. These applicants should have valid Express Entry profiles and receive a Notification of Interest from Ontario to apply under this stream. 

French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream
French-speaking skilled workers with strong English language abilities have the opportunity to apply for permanent residency under this stream. They must have valid profiles in the IRCC’s Express Entry. 

If you have a job offer in Ontario:

Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream
You should obtain a job offer in a skilled occupation at Skill Type O or A, or, B. Foreign workers who are outside Canada are also eligible to apply if they have a job offer in hand from this province.  

Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream
International students with a job offer in a skilled occupation are eligible to apply under this stream. 

Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream
Foreign workers with a job offer in specific in-demand occupations such as agriculture, construction, trucking, personal support work, and other select occupations have the opportunity to apply under this stream. This stream is open to foreign workers who are outside Canada as well.
