Canada’s Start-up Visa Program targets immigrant entrepreneurs with the skills and potential to build businesses in Canada that:
are innovative
can create jobs for Canadians
can compete on a global scale
Do you have an innovative business idea? If you can get support for your idea from one of the designated organizations, you may be able to immigrate to Canada.
To qualify for the Start-up Visa Program, you must meet all 4 eligibility requirements, as well as the admissibility requirements to enter Canada.
Eligibility requirements for the Start-up Visa Program:
If you want to receive support from the designated organization, you will need to contact them. In order to get funding for your business idea, you need to convince the organization that it is worth supporting.
Each organization has its own process for pitching ideas. There are different requirements for each organization. The business concept you present in person or the detailed business plan you submit might be required. Upon reaching an agreement with a designated organization, you will receive a letter of support. This letter must be included with your application. You need this proof to show that your business idea is being supported by the venture capital fund, angel investor group, or business incubator.
A commitment certificate will also be sent directly to the Government by the organization. They will use both your letter of support and the organization’s commitment certificate to assess your application.
A viability review of your business proposal will be performed by the designated organization(s) to whom you seek support. Once you’ve received the necessary support to apply, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will review your immigration application to determine if you’re eligible to become a permanent resident. Additionally, your application may be subject to independent peer review.
In addition to protecting against fraud, it ensures that your activities and those of the designated organization meet industry standards.
